The Devil's in the Details: Why Specifics Make Your Writing Sizzle

Ever feel like your marketing copy is falling flat, like a soda left open overnight?

You might be missing the magic ingredient:

Let's spice things up!

You're busy, I get it. Who has time to fuss over the little things when you've got a mountain of client work?

But here's the kicker: vague writing is the silent killer of conversions.

I know, I know. You're juggling ten things at once, and the last thing you want to do is spend extra time on your copy. You're thinking, "As long as I get the message across, I'm good, right?"

Wrong.

Without those juicy details, your messaging is as bland as unseasoned chicken. No one remembers, no one engages, and worst of all, no one buys. Ouch!

Why "Short and Sweet" Isn't Always Effective

"Short and sweet" might be your mantra, but short and vague won't get you the clients. If your words don't paint a picture, your readers are just scrolling by, missing your point entirely.

Imagine you’re a realtor describing a house. Instead of saying, “spacious living room,” you say, “A living room big enough to host your kid’s soccer team and still have room for a dance-off.” Which one paints a clearer picture?

2 pictures of the same living room, one saying “spacious living room,” and the other “A living room big enough to host your kid’s soccer team and still have room for a dance-off.”

Details are your best friend. They bring your words to life, making them vivid and memorable. Instead of “great service,” say “Our team goes above and beyond, answering emails at midnight and personally delivering your favorite coffee when you’re swamped.”

Not only does detailed copy engage your audience, but it also builds trust. People can see, feel, and almost touch what you're offering. They connect with you on a personal level and are more likely to convert.

For example, if you are an event planner: Instead of “beautiful venue,” try “a venue with chandeliers that sparkle like Cinderella’s glass slippers and a garden straight out of a fairy tale.”

What if you’re a fashion consultant?: Instead of “stylish outfits,” try “outfits that turn heads, with fabrics so soft you’ll feel like you’re wrapped in a cloud.”
